About the event

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., along with numerous other African American pastors, drew inspiration and strength from the impactful songs birthed out of the church. Spirituals, hymns, and gospel songs, driven by Spirit-filled Gospel singers, served as the driving force behind the Civil Rights Movement. As the late Congressman and Civil Rights Activist John Lewis once said, “The Civil Rights Movement without music would have been like a bird without wings.”
