Afro-American spiritual arranged in a manner reminiscent of how Dr. Dee would have heard it sung by the elders in her baptist church growing up.  With scoops and its improvisatory feel, it takes us back to  the "down-home" Black church singing styles most often found in the Carolinas.  This style would normally be a cappella but she has crafted a left-hand only piano part that adds an interesting colorful element in keeping with the genre.  (See the score here as well.)
