"Sweet By and By" is a medley based on three familiar hymns focusing on heaven, "Sweet By and By", "When We All Get to Heaven" and "We'll Understand It Better By and By."  Intended to be performed with soloists and a pianist familiar with gospel ad lib, the work combines these moving hymns into a trilogy of praise for the glory of heaven ending with a vamp of new original lyrics and music that inverts as it expound on the powerful message of revelation that God reveals in times of death.  It can work well as a concert piece, a Sunday morning selection or would be fitting for a home-going service mixing the old and new.
